I was born on November 27, 1989 in the city of Greensboro, North Carolina. All of my life, I've been a huge fan of Carolina Circle Mall.
It all started sometime around 1990 when I was only a baby. All throughout the early and mid '90s, I would ride the mall's carousel numerous times. I'd eat meals at the mall's food court which was home to some of the greatest restaurants such as Monk's Cheesesteaks & Cheeseburgers, Circle Cafe & Deli, Mr. Wok Chinese Restaurant, and Chick-Fil-A. I'd also spend a lot of time at Montgomery Ward, the coolest department store ever.
Unfortunately, the mall closed in early 2002 and was demolished in 2005. A Wal-Mart opened there in 2006 with many new stores on there way.
The purpose of the Circle Ring (Home of Carolina Circle Mall & Carolina Circle City), is to not let people forget about Carolina Circle Mall. Because it has now been completely leveled and a new shopping center in its place, I fear that many people will no longer care about Carolina Circle Mall and its legacy and memories.
What has happened at Carolina Circle Mall has also happened at other great malls around the world. Great malls have been torn down to make way for big box stores such as Wal-Mart.
I suggest to you that you should not forget about Carolina Circle. Relive them here at the Home of Carolina Circle Mall and Carolina Circle City. It's as simple as this: Carolina Circle Mall might not have been successful financially, but it was successful personally with memories of ice rinks, carousels, and many great stores.
